John Milton Gold Scholarship

History

The scholarship, funded by NCCCMA, honors the late John Gold’s exemplary career in local government. Gold began his career working for North Carolina highway patrol then joined the State Bureau of Investigation. He became an FBI agent serving in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where he later served as police chief and then city manager, a position he held for 21 years. He passed away while in office in 1972.

Recipient

All students are eligible for this scholarship based on their academic background and areas of interests upon their admittance into the MPA Program. However, preference is given to students interested in local government management in North Carolina
