Purpose and Goals of the UNC MPA Portfolio

The purpose of the MPA portfolio is for students to demonstrate and further develop their public service leadership potential through a collection of academic and professional products.*

In pursuing this purpose, the MPA portfolio contains four primary goals for students:

1. Establish a vision for your public service leadership identity
2. Articulate your understanding of public service values
3. Describe the knowledge and skills you have developed that are critical to your future career
4. Document achievement of competencies and demonstrate specific strengths

*MPA students graduating prior to 2014 completed capstone projects in lieu of portfolios.
